This is a webpage designed for use in Mr. Little’s 7th Grade Social Studies class. For students, it’s a useful tool to find web resources and get materials/updates for class. For parents, it’s a great way to keep up with what we’re doing. The website is updated very frequently (several times per week), so please visit often. You’ll see slideshows, videos, board work, and discussions posted here, as well as pdf versions of documents (study guides, worksheets, notes) that you can easily print and use at home.
A few technical and organizational notes:
Any assignment can be made up at (almost*) anytime. I can’t possibly give a good excuse why a student who fails something should not be allowed a chance to redo it (and LEARN from it) again. This usually applies to forgotten homework assignments and poorly done quizzes, tests, and projects. If your child does badly, they clearly did not learn. She/He and I should talk about the problem, address the problem area(s), and try again. If your child happens to be in this position, have them come see or e-mail me! *(My only rule is that we must be in the current unit of study. No assignments turned in 2 months late; sort of defeats the point.)
Please understand the following points regarding grades in the gradebook:
- In the gradebook: X = eXcused (for a large variety of reasons; inquire if necessary), A = Absent (most can be made up; some, such as a video or demonstration, cannot), B = Band (student missed class due to band; assignment should be made up ASAP, unless it’s a video or demo), and 0’s mean that the student did not do it. A blank grade means I have not input that particular assignment for that particular class yet.
- Not every class has the same assignments. So, if you see something unfamiliar (such as the “Multiple Intelligences Project”), your child likely did not have it. An “X” should be in place of a grade.
- I do not instantly input grades, but sometimes will. Many assessments/assignments take days to thoroughly grade. I aim for a week’s return on these types of assignments.
If you cannot read/print from scribd, try clicking the blue underline/linked words before or after the document. I try to put another format up so you don’t have to rely on scribd. It’s crabby sometimes, sorry.
