Today our 7th graders were fortunate to have Dean Rodkin visit our classroom to present an exciting history of Darien and Illinois. Dean is a retired Eisenhower teacher and has contributed to a book on Darien history, works with the Camp Douglas Restoration Foundation, is a presenter and facilitator and the Chicago History Museum, and leads tours of Graue Mill. Dean is a genuine treasure and history expert; we’re lucky to have her share with our students and model what a historian does. She remarkably engages our students and literally has them asking her to come back for more. Exciting to see student historians recognize great teaching when they see it!
