First Quiz

Our first quiz – aside form states and capitals – is now in the books.  Some thoughts:

  1. This quiz was the exact same same thing as our study guide.  That’s not hyperbole.  It was the EXACT same thing.  Not many excuses for failure when you had it for a week, we reviewed it together, and work on the material for 2.5 weeks anyway.
  2. Please work on your handwriting!  Some students write so quickly, the writing was difficult to read.  When it takes me 5-10 minutes to read a quiz, I’m spending 700 minutes grading them all.  That’s why it takes a week to get them back.
  3. Maybe it’s time to take Social Studies a bit more seriously?  It’s a fun class, but there’s a method to the madness here.  If you’re not reading, studying, and taking notes, you end up with a poor grade on quizzes like this.  Take a little pride in your work, young ones!

Not bad for a first quiz, but lets improve for the next one (Wednesday, 10/8).  We’re also 5 weeks or so from the Constitution Test…

The quiz is the same as the “pop” quiz – Articles, Goals, and Principles – that we took on Friday, and reviewed today. The questions are the same as in the post below, except they are multiple choice.
